Letter to the Administration Requesting Workforce Equity Plans
By Sapna Mehta:
CLASP, Chicago Women in Trades, and other national partners wrote a letter to the Secretaries of the Departments of Transportation, Commerce, Interior, and Energy and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to encourage their continued good work to help ensure that jobs created by CHIPS, IRA, and IIJA are high quality jobs in which women, people of color, and people with disabilities can thrive. CLASP and our partners recommend that agencies build upon their good work by requiring all applicants for discretionary funding to submit detailed workforce equity plans outlining how they plan to create quality jobs, ensure racial and gender diversity in their workforce, and ensure workers have access to affordable, reliable, high quality child care.
