Leveraging Increased Resources to Advance Child Care: Next Steps for States
In March 2018, Congress passed the fiscal year 2018 (FY 2018) omnibus spending bill, which included a $2.37 billion increase for the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG), the largest source of federal funds for child care assistance for families with low incomes to improve the quality of child care. With this historic investment, states can get back on track and make child care subsidies work better for families with low incomes.This brief outlines different ways states can use the funds to improve their child care programs.
