Presentation: Broken Hope: Deportation and the Road Home
By Suma Setty and Lynn Tramonte
CLASP’s racial equity team’s February monthly meeting was led by Lynn Tramonte of the Ohio Immigrant Alliance, and our own, Suma Setty, senior policy analyst on the immigration team, who presented their new book, Broken Hope: Deportation and the Road Home on February 28, 2024. The book, also summarized in an issue brief, sheds light on the deportation experiences of over 250 individuals, analyzing trends, discussing harms, and contextualizing their experiences within the immigration system’s racist history and current unjust structure. The pdf of the presentation contains rich detail on people’s stories as well as findings from original analysis of Department of Homeland Security deportation data.
