Akosua Meyers
Akosua Meyers is director of development at CLASP. Ms. Meyers oversees the development and implementation of CLASP’s overall fundraising and development strategy. She is a seasoned fundraiser with a deep commitment to social and economic justice movements and holds a wealth of strategic programmatic, organizational development, project management, and financial sustainability expertise. She has worked in the nonprofit sector (advocacy, organizing, and direct service) in varying capacities for 20 years. Prior to joining CLASP, Ms. Meyers served as deputy director of institutional advancement at Jobs With Justice, a national network organization focused on building power for working people through strategic organizing and policy interventions. In that role, she was responsible for providing strategic planning, direction, and oversight to the organization’s institutional advancement vision. During her tenure at Jobs With Justice, she also served as the organization’s long-time development director responsible for securing revenue from diverse streams including foundations and individual donors, while also providing strategic fundraising support and coaching to the organization’s network leaders across the country. Ms. Meyers holds a BA in communications from Howard University and a master’s degree in public policy, with a focus on global health policy, from George Mason University.
