“I think it has a chance,” said Lorena Roque, an expert with the Center for Law and Social Policy, a left-leaning advocacy organization. She noted that Hawley has “positioned himself as a leader in the Senate” and added that she gives the proposal around a 50/50 chance. She also said there could be a smaller increase to the credit.
