Sapna Mehta, a senior policy analyst at the Center for Law and Social Policy, told Law360 the FAIR Leave Act also has important implications for gender equity, as all parents should be allowed to take the same amount of time off to care for and bond with their kids.

“By eliminating this marriage penalty, I think it would allow for both increased equity and also just really allow men to play a role in their families that many want to do,” Mehta said.
